Kansas school efficiencies task force holds meeting
A new Kansas task force charged with finding ways for schools to put more of their state funding directly into classrooms had their first meeting today.
Kansas Policy Institute president Dave Trabert opened the meeting by reviewing school spending data that districts provide to the Kansas Department of Education.
Trabert says the task force created by Gov. Sam Brownback should identify barriers that keep districts from spending money more efficiently. The next step is to remove those barriers.
State Board of Education member Ken Willard heads the task force. Among the other members are certified public accountants and former local school board members.
Democrats have criticized the absence of teachers and school administrators on the task force.
