125 people evacuated from hotel in Old Town following water main break
A water main break at 3:32 a.m. closed some intersections in the Old Town area of Wichita and forced the relocation of 125 guests from the Courtyard By Marriott Hotel.
Second Street was closed to the west from Washington. That street reopened a couple hours later. The intersections of First and Mosley, Second and Mosley and Third and Mosley were barricaded. Mosley may be closed all day between Second and Third street.
"When we got there, there was water shooting about 10 feet into the air against the side of the building," said Wichita Fire Division Chief Tammy Snow. "It broke out a couple of the windows. The water began penetrating into the building."
