Embers from a fire pit cause building fire

A detached garage caught fire this morning in the 2200 block of west Caroline.
KFDI's John Wright said two neighbors saw the garage fire. One called 911 while the other pounded on the front door to awake the homeowner. The alarm was called just after 7 a.m. The fire did not reach the house.
Wichita Fire Investigations Cpt. Stu Bevis said embers from a fire pit started the exterior of the garage on fire. He estimates the damage at $12,000.
