Alex Karras, former NFL lineman, actor, dies at 77
(AP) Football player-turned-actor Alex Karras (KA'-rihs) has died.
His attorney says Karras died today at his home in Los Angeles at age 77. He had been suffering from dementia and was among more than 3,500 NFL players suing the league over its treatment of head injuries. Karras was a four-time All-Pro defensive tackle who played 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions. In his other career, Karras portrayed an adoptive dad in the 1980s sitcom ``Webster'' and punched a horse in the 1974 comedy classic ``Blazing Saddles.''
