A 30-year-old man is facing charges for a bank robbery in Rice County that led to a chase and shootout in Saline County on Tuesday.

Jason Gleason was booked into jail on seven charges, including attempted murder and aggravated kidnapping. Our news partners at KWCH Channel 12 are reporting that Gleason's brother, Sidney, was convicted of capital murder in the 2004 murders of a man and woman in Great Bend.

Gleason is accused of robbing the First Bank of Chase in Rice County. A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper spotted his vehicle and chased it to a rural area south of Salina, where the suspect crashed and then got out of the vehicle. Shots were exchanged and Gleason ran off. He was caught after a two-hour search. The trooper was injured by flying glass during the shootout.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation reports a woman and child in the car were hurt in the shootout. The woman was taken to a Wichita hospital, while the child was treated in Salina. They had gunshot wounds, but their conditions are not known.
