Project Apartment Safety begins today
The Wichita Fire Department will begin a new safety initiative.
The "Project Apartment Safety" is in response to the large number of apartment fires caused by careless smoking or inattentive cooking in the city. Firefighters visited door to door with apartment residents starting with the Silver Springs Apartments at 777 North Silver Springs. That's near Central and Ridge Road. The department will speak and distribute fire safety literature to residents and apartment management. This week is National Fire Prevention Week.
