Shots fired in north Wichita neighborhood
Police are investigating after a number of gun shots were fired in a north Wichita neighborhood early Friday.
Wichita Police Lieutenant Doug Nolte said residents in the 1100 block of North Poplar called 911 after hearing shots around 2:15 a.m.
Nolte said there was a party going on at a house on that block, and gang members were attending. He said rival gang members got into a confrontation in the street, and that led to shots being fired. Officers found shell casings in the street, but no one was hurt and no damage was found in the area.
