Suspect accused of robbing bank, firing shots at trooper
The man accused of robbing a Rice County bank and firing shots at a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper after a high speed pursuit in Saline County made his first appearance in court Friday.
Jason Gleason was formally charged with one count of attempted first degree murder, four counts of attempted second degree murder and other charges.
Additional court documents released Friday released the name of the Kansas Highway Trooper involved in the shootout and the woman who was in the vehicle with Gleason. The trooper is identified as Ryan Wolting. He suffered minor injuries from broken glass during the shootout.
The driver of the vehicle is identified as Chrystal Bell. It is still not clear how Bell and Gleason are related. Bell and a child were injured in the shootout, but their condition is still not known.
Gleason remains in the Saline County Jail on a $1 million bond.
