For the first time in a few months, Kansas could be under the gun for some rough and tumble weather during the day Saturday.

Storm Team 12 meteorologist Rodney Price says that storms will move through the area overnight, with heavy rains and frequent lightning being the main threats. There will be a break in the activity during the mid-morning to early afternoon hours, then storms will once again develop to the west of Wichita and move east.

Price said the peak time for severe weather to occur in the Wichita area will be in the late afternoon and early evening hours. The activity should be east of Wichita by mid-evening.

While large hail, damaging winds and torrential rains will be the main threats, Price said isolated tornadoes will be possible with the storms, especially in the first few hours after they develop.

The 24-Hour News Center will have updates during the day Saturday, and if needed, continuous severe weather coverage.
