Wichita woman and Ark City man killed; a passenger survives crash
A double fatal head-on crash shuts down traffic south of Mulvane.
It happened about 6:25 Monday morning on K-15 just south of Webb Road in Sumner County. The Kansas Highway Patrol identified the driver of a northbound truck that crossed the center line, as 30 year-old Kyle Staab of Arkansas City and the southbound driver, as 33 year-old Kristy Roszel of Wichita.
" There is indication of braking by the driver of the northbound vehicle, but its pretty clear the impact occurred in the south bound lane based on roadway evidence." said Kansas Highway Patrol Master Trooper, Sean Hankins. A passenger in Staab's truck, 27 year-old Daniel Clark of Wichita, remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
Clark was thrown out of the truck and found in a field by Mulvane EMS. Both trucks were totalled out and hauled away by wreckers. Troopers said Staab and Roszel had their seat belts on, while Clark was not buckled up. Traffic was re-opened nearly three hours after the investigation was completed.
