Neighbor thwarts south Wichita burglary
An alert neighbor helped bust a burglary attempt in south Wichita this afternoon.
"A neighbor in the 7000 block of East Zimmerly observed two, young juvenile males looking around a house, looking into the windows and doors, and then saw them force entry through the front door to the residence," said Wichita Police Sergeant Scott Brunow.
When officers arrived, the suspects had fled out the back door. Police began to walk the neighborhood in search of the suspects, and found them in the 1000 block of S. Governour.
"After a short foot pursuit, both were taken into custody," Brunow said. "All the property was recovered that was taken."
The two suspects, both 15 years old, took jewelry, prescription medication and digital cameras from the home.
A 16-year-old girl with the boys did not actively participate in the burglary, but was taken into custody as a possible accomplice.
