Seven people displaced by South Wichita fire
Wichita firefighters quickly doused a bedroom fire inside a home in the 1500 block of South Waco Tuesday afternoon.
Residents called 911 after noticing smoke. They were all able to escape before firefighters arrived.
"As they entered the house, they encountered heavy smoke," said Battalion Chief Tom Carney. "They found that they had fire in one of the front bedrooms and they were able to contain the fire to that one bedroom."
No one was hurt. The cause is under investigation and damage to the home and its contents is estimated at $30,000.
The Red Cross is assisting four adults, three children and their dog.
