One man dead after crash on Pawnee
An 18-year-old man was killed in an accident on east Pawnee near the Kansas Turnpike overpass. The accident was reported at about 5:20 Thursday evening.
Wichita Police Captain Brent Allred says the man was driving east bound on Pawnee at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed "semi head-on" with a truck, then struck a concrete bridge pillar.
The driver of the truck recieved minor injuries in the accident, but was not taken to the hospital. The identity of the 18-year-old man was not released, pending the notification of family.
Pawnee was closed for several hours while the accident was investigated and the road cleared.
