The Sedgwick County Zoo will be accepting your donated plants this weekend. The plants can be dropped off today and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Zoo Administration office parking lot.

The zoo will accept tropical plants and perennials in containers of 12 inches or larger. The zoo will take as many plants as it can until its greenhouse is full, but will not be able to accept all donations.

The zoo will not accept annuals. Cacti and succulents will be accepted on a case by case basis.

If the plants are too big for you to drop off, contact the zoo's Tropical Horticulturist Pete Logsdon at 266-8313 to schedule a pickup.

Many plants will be used in the Jungle exhibit, the Downing Gorilla Forest and the Koch Orangutan and Chimpanzee Habitat. Large ficus and hibiscus trees will be used in the winter holding barn for perching birds.
