Three Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers earned KHP Superintendent awards for their work in a March 2010 incident.

Master Trooper Jeffrey White, Trooper Justin Rohr and Trooper Alex Taylor helped bring a man into custody in a domestic battery case.

The suspect's vehicle was spotted by one of the troopers, who started pursuing it into Salina. The suspect left the vehicle in the Emmanuel Christian Center parking lot, then went into the church with a pistol in his hand.

White, Rohr and Taylor chased the suspect into the church. The man brought out his weapon and did not comply with the officers. The suspect was shot by one trooper who was defending himself.

KHP Superintendent Colonel Ernest Garcia presented the awards to the troopers.

People inside the church the day of the incident were preparing for a wedding shower. None of them were hurt.
