Wichita man arrested after kidnapping leads to police standoff
Wichita police arrested a 47-year-old man after a reported kidnapping led to a standoff at a south side home Sunday evening.
Lieutenant Joe Schroeder said witnesses reported that a 31-year-old woman was forced into her former boyfriend's pickup near 31st Street South and Davidson around 8 p.m. Officers went to the area and found that the suspect had barricaded himself inside a home in the 3100 block of South Davidson.
A SWAT team was called to the scene, and police talked the man into surrendering.
Schroeder said the suspect was booked into jail for aggravated kidnapping and domestic battery. The woman was in the home with two witnesses. She had minor injuries.
