Work release inmate found after brief disappearance

A work release inmate from the Hutchinson Correctional Facility is back in custody after he was reported missing from his place of employment.

Kansas corrections officials say 36-year-old Juan Marquez, Jr was reported missing Tuesday afternoon from his work assignment at the Collins Bus Corporation in South Hutchinson.    The escape siren was sounded and a search began, and a response team was sent to the company from the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.  An officer from the team found Marquez hiding in a restroom, and the inmate was taken into custody and returned to the prison.

Marquez was serving time for convictions in Sedgwick County and Reno County of burglary, theft, aggravated battery and criminal possession of a firearm.   An investigation is being conducted and then a report on Marquez will be sent to the Reno County district attorney 's office.
