Victim's young son, husband testify at Reno County murder trial
A jury in Reno County heard tearful testimony Friday in the trial of Charles Logsdon, who is accused of murdering Jennifer Heckel of Hutchinson on June 14, 2011.
The Hutchinson News reports Brian Heckel said his wife was a was a happy and ambitious person whose life revolved around her husband and 5-year-old son.
The son testified, too. He said he was watching Spongebob Squarepants when two men he didn't know came to the house. He heard "bangs" and stayed in a sunroom until the men left.
The little boy testified that he and his mother spent part of that day making a gift for Father's Day.
Jennifer Hecklel's parents and brother also testified at the trial.
Prosecutors say Logsdon and co-defendant Billy Joe Craig went to the Heckel's home with the intention of robbing and killing a 25-year-old drug dealer whom Heckel resembled. It was a case of mistaken identity, they say.
Craig is scheduled to be tried later.
