A death of a woman whose body was found in a burned house near Derby Sept. 10 was an accident, according to a report by the Regional Forensic Science Center in Wichita.

Kathy O'Brien, 53, died in the blaze in the two-story home near 87th Street South and Greenwich Road.  The Wichita Eagle reports the cause of O'Brien's death was smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. Foul play is not suspected.

A passerby reported the fire at 1:46 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they immediately determined it would be too dangerous to enter the home. The home was a total loss, with a damage estimate of $300-thousand.
