Suspect crashes SUV during police chase
A high-speed police chase from Andover into Wichita when a suspect crashed a Dodge Durango into a utility police off of I-135, near 21st Street.
It started around 9 Saturday morning with a request for assistance from Butler County authorities, who were chasing the silver SUV.
Wichita police officers quickly located the stolen vehicle, said Wichita Police Sgt. Bart Brunscheen.
The chase reached speeds of close to 90 m.p.h. on K-96. The suspect bailed out of the vehicle and was caught after a footchase toward the drainage canal along I-135. A female passenger in her late 20's suffered what was believed to be a dislocated elbow. She was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment. The driver, a man in his 30's was not injured in the crash.
Andover police connected the pair to a auto robbery, are suspected of burglarizing a business and later learned that the Durango had been stolen from a car lot in east Wichita.
The male suspect is being charged with felony evade and elude, possession of stolen property. Brunscheen says additional charges are possible.
