Wichita firefighters quickly stopped an apartment fire from destroying an entire triplex in the 1500 block of South Meridian.
The fire was reported around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Firefighters who got there first saw heavy smoke and flames coming from one of the units.
"A quick 911 call, coupled with a quick response by firefighters, was able to keep the fire in just the one unit," said Wichita Fire Department Battalion Chief John Turner.
No one was home at the time and there were no injuries. The person who lived in the unit that was burned was in the process of moving out, Turner said.
The cause has not been determined.
