Prison officials say 3 inmates tried to hang themselves
Officials with the Hutchinson Correctional Facility are still investigating an incident that left four inmates needing medical treatment, and it was found that three of the inmates tried to hang themselves simultaneously.
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon. It' s not known why the inmates tried to hang themselves.
A statement released by the prison said two of the inmates were taken to a Wichita hospital, and one of them was expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday. A fourth inmate complained of chest pains and was taken to the prison clinic, where he was treated and returned to his cell.
The inmates were in the Administrative Segregation Unit of the prison. Their names have not been released.
