Wichita firefighters were sent to a building fire shortly after 7:30 a.m. Friday in the 5600 block of East Harry.

A passerby called 911 after seeing smoke pouring from the second floor. Firefighters called in a second alarm to make sure they got the blaze under control.

"The fire had pretty much burned itself out," said Battalion Chief Kim Anderson. "But they did have heavy fire involvement at one time, but it just didn't have enough oxygen to sustain that fire."

The cause is under investigation. Anderson estimates property damage at $50,000 for the structure and $20,000 for the contents. He said the former business most recently served as an Alcoholics Anonymous hall.
