3 teens arrested after Old Town assault and robbery
Wichita police officers chased down and caught 3 teenagers after witnesses reported an assault and robbery in the Old Town area. A witness saw the teens walk out of a convenience store at Douglas and Washingon around 3 a.m. Friday, and they a man who was standing nearby.
Lieutenant Doug Nolte said the witness called 911 and other witnesses in the area reported the crime to officers who were just around the corner. Nolte said the suspects ran, and they attacked another man during the getaway, but nothing was taken from him. The officers caught 2 18-year-old men and a 19-year-old suspect, and they were booked into jail. The 2 victims had only minor injuries.
Nolte said there have been recent after-hours incidents where people were attacked and robbed in Old Town, and detectives are working to find out if the suspects are responsible for those incidents.
