Wichita police are asking for the public's help in tracking down the people responsible for a series of home burglaries on the city's west side. Captain Rusty Leeds said there have been about 30 burglaries reported over the past two months.

Leeds said the burglaries have been reported between the hours of 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. in an area between I-235 and Meridian, from Kellogg north to 13th Street. He said Monday through Thursday have been the heaviest days.

The burglaries have involved a front door or back door that has been kicked in, and the items taken have been cash, jewelry and game systems.

Leeds said a couple of generic descriptions have been provided in a couple of the cases. One was an African-American man around 5-feet-7-inches tall with a medium build. The other was a white male in his 30s with blond hair.

Leeds said there hasn't been enough information to identify anyone involved in the burglaries. He is urging residents to watch for and report any suspicious activity in the area.
