Contract talks moved forward, but right now it is not about the money.

Talks began on Monday between Spirit AeroSystems and the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace in Wichita. Negotiations centered on performance management and retention.

The economic issues within a new three year contract for about 800 engineers are scheduled to begin Monday. On the union website, a union spokesman said the company was not prepared to begin discussions on economic issues this week.
