Crime Stoppers looking for information in 2010 homicide
Wichita police are still looking for information in a fatal shooting that happened at a southside apartment in April 2010. Chris Jones, 55, was shot several times after answering a knock at the door of his apartment in the 2200 block of South Oliver.
Lieutenant Todd Ojile said Jones looked out to see who was knocking at the door, but was shot after he opened the door. Jones died at a hospital. There was no indication if he knew the gunman
Ojile said the suspect was described as an African American man around 6 feet tall, wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt. He said there has been nothing to indicate a motive for the shooting, and no suspects have been identified.
Wichita's Crime Stoppers organization is highlighting a different cold case each week through Dec. 28, and the reward has been doubled to $2,000 for tips that lead to an arrest.
Anyone with information on the South Oliver shooting is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 267-2111.
