Wichita Homeschool claims Kansas Best titles
It wasn't all about robotics at Kansas Best Competition.
Wichita Homeschool won the BEST Award and Game Award at the 14th annual Kansas BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology) event at Wichita State University's Koch Arena Saturday, Nov. 3
BEST is designed to inspire and motivate students toward careers in engineering, science and technology. By winning the competition, Wichita Homeschool qualifies for the regional competition at Frontier Trails BEST in Fort Smith, Ark., Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
Also qualifying for the regional competition are Ambassadors for Christ, Circle High School, Kapaun Mt. Carmel, Valley Center High School and Council Grove High School. Ambassadors for Christ finished second in the game competition, Circle placed third and Valley Center finished fourth.
Circle H.S. finished second in the BEST Award, Kapaun Mt. Carmel took third and Council Grove placed fourth. The BEST Award is based on a project notebook, oral presentation, table display, interviews, and overall spirit and sportsmanship. The Game Award is based on the robot scoring points in the game competition.
