A 3-year-old child has died after a violent two-vehicle accident on westbound Kellogg at Zelta.  The accident left 6 other people injured, including a 10-year-old child who is in critical condition.

It happened just west of K-96 and US-54 Highway. Wichita Police Lieutenant Doug Nolte said at least three children were ejected from a green minivan that struck a westbound red van while attempting a left turn from Zelta onto eastbound Kellogg. Two of the children were taken to the hospital in "very serious condition," Nolte said.

Seven people were injured in the wreck, of which six were taken to a local hospital. The driver of the red van had minor injuries.

Police are investigating to determine if the children were properly restrained.   The Kansas Highway Patrol also responded to assist Wichita police at the scene. The intersection was shut down for nearly two hours as police investigated the crash.
