A 25-year-old man was critically injured when he crashed and rolled his van down a steep embankment along K-96, near the 13th Street exit.

Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Darren Moser said two people in a truck that was hauling cargo witnessed the accident at about 12:30 p.m. Friday.

"They're the ones who actually saw him in the passenger seat and said he wasn't moving," Moser said.

The driver was alone in the vehicle. The cause of the accident is not known.

Moser said the man most likely was not wearing a seatbelt.
