Customers want a delay in Hawker Beechcraft sale
A group of Hawker Beechcraft customers has asked a bankruptcy court to reject a move by the Wichita plane maker to immediately liquidate its inventory of discontinued Hawker 4000 jet aircraft.
The Committee of Hawker 4000 Customers argued in a court filing the 20 aircraft normally retail at about $20 million, amounting to $400 million. The customers say there is no reason to rush the sale of assets without proper marketing and notice in an open process.
Current customers also contended that if Hawker Beechcraft develops service and support systems for the discontinued line, the company would increase the value of remaining inventory.
Hawker Beechcraft wants to sell the inventory quickly because it believes the value of the discontinued planes will continue declining as competitors introduce new aircraft.
