Shoplifter almost collides head-on with trooper in chase

A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper was almost hit head-on during a police chase in Reno County Monday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Reno County Sheriff's office, the incident started when two people were accused of shoplifting from the Heartland Outdoor store in South Hutchinson. The woman was apprehended, but her male counterpart sped off in a Dodge Durango.

The chase ended near Arlington when a Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter found the man hiding under an evergreen tree.

Both suspects are facing several charges. There were no injuries in the chase.
