One man shot after Wichita party goes bad
One man is in serious condition in the hospital after being shot when a party turned into an argument near 29th and Meridian Sunday morning.
The victim was gone when Wichita police arrived.
"We were notified that there were multiple people that had left the scene on foot and in vehicles. Once we got up to the house, we noticed that there was some evidence of a disturbance and some blood," said Sgt. Troy Nedbalek. "Apparently it was a large party that had gone bad. A short time later we were notified that an individual showed up at St. Francis (Hospital) with a gun shot wound to the shoulder."
Police blocked several streets around the area because of the large crime scene.
"The scene is actually in the middle of the street. Apparently after he was shot he went back into the house, because there is a large amount of blood in the house," Nedbalek said.
Nedbalek said it is not clear what led up to the man being shot. He said it appears some people showed up at the party that were not invited.
"We have several individuals that obviously look like they've been involved in a physical disturbance - a lot of cuts and bruises and red marks," Nedbalek said. "We're just trying to decipher who was all involved in which fight, because it sounds like there were a couple different fights over the course of the evening."
