Wichita police have identified the teenager who was shot and killed during a robbery attempt at a convenience store on Thanksgiving evening as 16-year-old Giorgio Rock.

Police said Rock and a 19-year-old man went into KC's Gas & Groceries at 1161 North Broadway, and Rock went behind the counter and started to take cash from the register.

Lieutenant Todd Ojile said Rock and the clerk got into a scuffle, and the clerk grabbed a gun and fired several shots. Rock stumbled out from behind the counter, but didn't make it outside.

The 19-year-old man fled along with another 19-year-old man who was waiting outside the store. Police caught them a short time later. Both are facing charges.

Ojile said Rock and the other man had pellet guns that looked realistic, and Rock pointed the gun at the clerk and shoved him. The store had been robbed earlier, on Nov. 16. Police believe Rock was involved in that robbery, but the other two men were not.

Ojile said the case regarding the two 19-year-old men will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office on Tuesday.
