Newton power outage affects Harvey County Courthouse
An early morning electrical problem resulted in many Harvey County Courthouse employees being sent home Tuesday morning.
Emergency Management Director Lon Buller said there was a problem with an underground line, and Westar Energy crews were able to restore electricity during the noon hour. The outage also affected the Law Enforcement Center, but generators were used to provide power. Some downtown offices were also affected by the outage.
Court proceedings continued, and employees returned to work at the courthouse in the afternoon. The courthouse will be back to normal operations on Wednesday.
