Loss reported for Intrust Bank Arena
The Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita lost $577,590 during the third quarter of the year, according to a report that was presented to Sedgwick County commissioners on Wednesday.
Assistant county manager Ron Holt said the months of July, August and September are a tough time for the arena industry, and there were only seven events that were held at the arena. Holt said for the entire year through September, the arena made a profit of $175,000. He expects a strong finish to 2012 with the events that were scheduled in October, November and December.
Arena general manager A.J. Boleski said there have been 17 concerts scheduled this year, compared to 13 that were held in 2011. He expects the total number of events to top last year.
Boleski said the recent NBA exhibition game with the Oklahoma City Thunder set an attendance record, and the Thunder organization had a great experience in Wichita, but he doesn't see the Thunder having any regular season games here.
