Chiefs game to be played as scheduled today
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher fatally shot his 22-year-old girlfriend early today and then drove to a parking lot at the club's training facility where he killed himself in front of team general manager Scott Pioli and coach Romeo Crennel.
Authorities did not release a possible motive for the murder-suicide, though they said Belcher and his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, had been arguing recently. The two of them leave behind a 3-month-old child.
After discussions between the league office, coach Crennel and the Chiefs captains, the team said it will play its home game against the Carolina Panthers as scheduled today at noon local time.
