Medicare deadline approaching for Kansas residents
Kansas residents who have Medicare coverage and want to make any changes will have until December 7th. Notices were sent out in the fall to Medicre recipients across the state.
Julie Brookhart with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in Kansas City says people who don't want to make any changes will not have to do anything during the Medicare Open Enrollment period. She said there are around 1,500 people in the Sedgwick County area who are covered unter the United Health Group plan, and that plan is not renewing its contract with Medicare. People who are in a non-renewing plan like this will have until February 28th to make an election for their coverage, or they will be automatically enrolled in original Medicare.
