Farm workshop fire south of Derby
Flames and smoke could be seen shooting out of a converted farmhouse south of Derby.
The siding of a workshop showed signs of scorching from the intense heat Monday morning.
It happened in the 9500 block of South Rock Road. " Upon arrival crews found an outbuilding that has been made into a shop. Heavy fire and smoke was coming from the structure." Sedgwick County Division Chief Doug Williams said. " They had a lot of projects they were working on, alot of furniture and various things." Mulvane, Derby and McConnell Air Force Base crews also responded to the scene. Crews used a chainsaw to cut a hole in the roof to let heat and smoke out of the structure. A damage estimate and cause of the fire is not yet known.
