Sedgwick County manager receives award

Sedgwick County manager Bill Buchanan has received an award from an international organization  for his contributions to the profession of local government.

Buchanan was recognized in the annual awards program for the International City-County Management Association (ICMA).  He received a professional award for helping the career development of new talent in local government management.   Buchanan has encouraged young people to pursue careers in local government, and he was recognized for his efforts in creating a "learning organization" for government employees.   He was also recognized for his commitments to professionalism, customer service and delivering quality public service. 

A 17-member panel for the ICMA reviewed more than 90 eligible nominations, and then selected 4 individuals and 13 local governments for awards.
