Local company donates new bed sets to charity
A Wichita company is helping families get back on their feet and into a new bed.
Slumberland Furniture in west Wichita, donated 45 mattress sets Tuesday morning to the Open Door and His Helping Hands Ministries. " It comes at a great time of year. " HHM executive director, Paul Dohm said. " I'm kind of surprised at the number of people in our city that actually sleep on the floor."
Volunteers and furniture store employees loaded the mattress sets onto delivery trucks after breakfast donated to the holiday program. Since 1993, Slumberland's " Homes for the Holidays" program has donated more than 20,000 mattress sets, including a program record number 1,750 just last year.
