Its an exciting time for the Kansas Star Casino.

Officials with the casino say that a portion of the permanent gaming floor will be open for business beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12th. To achieve that goal, the casino will close at midnight Sunday night so that staff can move 1,400 slot machines and 35 gaming tables.

"Opening a portion of the new casino on December 12 allows us to minimize the number of days we will be closed," said Scott Cooper, Kansas Star Casino General Manager.

Casino officials plan to have a the full gaming floor open beginning Friday, December 21.

Three of the five restaurants in the casino will be open beginning on December 12, and it is expected that the other two restaurants will be open by the end of the month.

A 150-bed Hampton Inn and Suites Hotel opened nearby the casino earlier this year.

"We have worked incredibly hard to make this new casino something south central Kansas can be proud of," says Cooper. "We hope our guests are as excited as we are about opening our doors on December 12."
