79-year-old man pulled from car, robbed in north Wichita
Police say a 79-year-old man was pulled from a car and robbed in a north Wichita neighborhood early Thursday. It happened around 4:45 a.m. in the 1700 block of North Waco.
Lieutenant Doug Nolte said the victim was giving a ride to a friend, a 30-year-old woman, and they had stopped at several locations before ending up at the North Waco address. While the woman went into an apartment, the man waited in his car. That's when someone walked up and pulled the man out of the car. Nolte said during a scuffle, the victim used a key to jab at the robber's ear, causing an injury. The robber then ran to the south, getting away with the victim's wallet and some cash, but the victim was not seriously hurt.
The robber was described as an African-American man in his mid-40's. Nolte said police have information on a possible suspect, and they're looking for him.
