An alert Sumner County Sheriff's Deputy helped arrest two burglary suspects from Wichita.

It started when a deputy responded to a burglary alarm in a home about 10:30 Monday morning east of Wellington. Around 12 o'clock, a deputy later followed a suspicious vehicle to the 1400 block of North Hydraulic, where he blocked the driveway and showed the suspects his badge.

A news release said that the passenger jumped the deputy, then he got back in the car and the driver took off.  Area law enforcement were alerted to the incident. The deputy chased the vehicle before both suspects, ages 34 and 28, bailed out, but were caught a short time later on north US-81.

After searching the vehicle, property found connected them to three separate burglaries that day. Both men are being held on various charges in the Sumner County Jail. 34-year-old Kevin Parker and 28 year-old Christopher McDaniel are held on suspicion of burglary, theft, battery of a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery, attempted robbery, obstruction and criminal damage to property.
