Homicide from 2009 still baffles detectives
Wichita police and the Crime Stoppers organization are focusing their energy this week on a cold case homicide from May 9, 2009.
"At about one o'clock in the morning, citizens driving in the 800 block of North Edgemoor called 911 after they observed a black male lying in the street," said Police Lt. Randy Reynolds.
The victim was rushed to a hospital where he died. He was identified as Craig D. Barnes, 27, of Wichita. He had been beaten to death.
Witnesses at the time said they saw Barnes fighting with another man, but they didn't get a good enough look at the other man to describe him. Police have no suspects.
