Multi-use pathway to be completed in north Wichita
The city of Wichita is making plans to complete a biking and walking path on the city's north side. Some work has been done on the path, which is along an abandoned railroad corridor from I-135 and Murdock to 17th and Oliver.
The project will cost $2.6 million, with $950,000 to be paid by the city and the rest to be covered by federal grants provided through the Kansas Department of Transportation. Work should begin in the spring and it will be finished by late summer.
Future projects could extend the path east from Oliver, since the abandoned rail line continues all the way to Andover along 17th Street North.
