Busy times ahead for postal service
The saying "business is about to pick up" couldn't be more true for those who work in the Postal Service.
According to the Postal Service, Monday, December 17 is expected to be the busiest mailing day of the year, with Wednesday, December 19 and Thursday, December 20 expected to be the busiest delivery dates of the year.
This year, 365 million packages will be handled by the postal service this year, which is a 20 percent increase over last year.
With the busiest time of the yearstill ahead, it is important to know how to ship your package so it gets to the right person and is not damaged. Here are some steps:
- Print addresses clearly and be sure to include all elements of the address such as apartment numbers, suite numbers, and directional information for streets.
- Select a box that is strong enough to support the package you are sending. Be sure to leave space for cushioning inside.
- Pack delicately. Cushion all of your contents with news paper, bubble wrap or foam peanuts.
