A 59 year old Wichita man was wounded while in a conceal-carry gun safety class.

The shooting occurred during the noon hour inside The Bullet Stop at 2625 West Pawnee.

"The man was practicing an off-handed draw with his firearm when he had his finger on the trigger," said Wichita Police Sergeant Mark Jackson. "It discharged and struck him one time in his own leg."

"He was practicing drawing from his holster with his weak or off hand," said Jackson.  "Apparently sometime during that draw he got his finger on the trigger and the gun discharged."

The man was treated and released for a gunshot wound to the upper leg from Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis.  Jackson said the man was practicing with a nine millimeter pistol.

No one else in the gun safety class was hurt.
