Wichita man faces trial for human trafficking
A Wichita man is scheduled to go on trial in Sedgwick County this week for aggravated human trafficking.
Police say they arrested Michael Neloms after they answered an internet ad for a 19-year-old escort. The girl met officers at a motel room at Kellogg and Webb Road and they determined the girl's real age was 15.
In a related case, a 54-year-old man was charged with engaging in sexual intercourse and sodomy with the girl and patronizing a prostitute.
Human trafficking convictions can result in long prison sentences. If convicted, Neloms could face between 12 and 55 years behind bars.
Judge John Kisner will preside over Nelom's case.
