Two murder trials underway in Wichita

Two first-degree murder trials have started in Sedgwick County District Court.

Melek Brown is accused of helping in the shooting death of 19-year-old Markez Phillips in Oaklawn last December. His trial is before District Judge Joseph Bribiesca. One man has been sentenced for the death while two others await their trials. 

Kendall Gentry is accused along with two other men in the shooting death of 34-year-old Ronald Wilson in the 900 block of North Broadway during a drug-related robbery. A jury is being chosen in District Judge Jeffrey Syrios' courtroom.
